There’s no excuse for poor logo design…

There are a number of online logo design sites around.  Believe me, I did my research when we decided to start Logotastic - and there are plenty of ways to get a logo.  However, do keep in mind that your logo is the graphic for your corporate identity, your brand.  A brand strategy communicates your values, your products and services, your ethos, your culture - and consistently communicates this.

The logo is a mere graphical representation of all of that.  You don’t start with a graphic - you should consider what goes behind the graphical representation of your brand:

  • What are your business objectives
  • Who is your target audience
  • Where are they located - globally, locally
  • What are your core values
  • How do you want to come across to your prospective audience
  • What message do you want to convey
  • What do your competitors look like
  • What platforms/materials will your graphical representation be used on
  • How do you stand out in a crowd
  • Is there anything unique about what you provide / do
These are some of the questions that ideally make up a ‘brief’ - that sits behind the development of your graphical representation.  Your logo is a quick insight into your business’s personality.  So before you go diving in a purchasing a ‘clip art’ logo for £30 or £50 - think about what it is you are out to achieve.
In this day and age, competition is such that you have access to high end designers, art school trained that understand design composition, colours, branding and messaging.  You will pay about £200 for a professionally crafted logo (I know that’s what we charge) - the same service you can expect from a high end design agency, in fact, many design and marketing agencies are now creating ‘logo’ services at very competitive rates (as we do) so that you get access to all the branding expertise at very affordable prices.
Do consider your branding - It may be with you for a long time…
Best wishes the creative and blogger at http://www.logotastic.co.uk
